Online clients usually have a wide variety of technical knowledge regarding diamonds and are privy to prices usually much less expensive than the retail level. The catch to this is oftentimes the piece delivered is not quite what was expected, and after service can become cumbersome because you have no face to face relationship with an expert. Traditional retail clients benefit from a strong relationship with their jeweller and a live selection of inventory to pick from. Due to high rent costs and overhead for employees, prices can be marked up shockingly high as well as oftentimes the purchase process isn’t as private as one would like. Consultations can be done in the downtown office, via e-mail, Facebook, or Skype. This enables you to let us know your story, and in turn we can turn it into a wonderful piece full of life. Through these connections we are able to provide numerous options to avoid the dreaded “Sorry we can’t do that.” Any type of gemstone or metal, any style from rings to charm bracelets, we will exercise all options to make your vision come to life. Using modern technology such as 3D rendering, you will know exactly what your piece will look like before it arrives, as well as you can select the main diamond or gemstone live beforehand. We’ll meet in-person to discuss your jewellery requirements and decide if a custom piece is the right choice for you. We deliver a 3D render of your custom jewellery so you can view your gorgeous piece before it’s created. We even create wax models for further inspection before your order is finalized. Marlow Marshall

The story of how I entered the jewellery industry is a non-traditional one but one that is infused in my day to day interactions. I grew up in Red Deer, entering into retail at a young age. I learned quickly the impact I had on client’s lives and prided myself on exceeding their expectations of what great service truly could be. I have been blessed to listen to thousands of stories in the retail field and have taken joy in improving each client’s life no matter how subtle. It wasn’t long before I entered management and was given the opportunity to teach the skills of exceptional service to my employees while learning the basics of running a business. A recruiter for a rapidly growing jewellery chain happened to be attending a customer service award ceremony where we had won top honors and approached me to join soon after. After a great deal of research into such a prestigious industry, I enthusiastically accepted. I quickly fell in love with all aspects of the business. No other industry allows you to truly connect with your clients and celebrate the unique occasions of their lives, while being able to create the physical representation of those moments. I made it my mission to learn every nook and cranny of the business, spending numerous hours training with manufacturers, diamond & gem dealers, and goldsmiths.

Before long I was transferred to Calgary to manage the top volume store in Canada, and then shortly after headed up the expansion into Saskatchewan. Throughout all this success, my passion had always been the custom aspect of the business. There was nothing more rewarding than working with a client to create the perfect piece, whether it was a small tweak to an existing design or a full build from scratch. In 2014 I decided to start my own custom design and jewellery concierge company and have enjoyed ever minute of helping people wear all kinds of special moments. It truly is something special to see someone who just received a gorgeous custom engagement ring from their fiancé’, confident the piece is unique. I was born into a family that deals with gemstones and diamond jewellery in Bangkok, Thailand. While growing up, I visited my father often in his office and started to love anything that sparkles from a very young age. Once I completed my degree in management, I decided to follow my father’s footsteps and bounded myself with the world of diamonds. With him being my backbone, I received my GIA (Gemological Institute of America) Graduate Diamonds Diploma and that is when my journey began into the jewellery industry.

I started working for several years for high profile jewellery retailers and that is when mine and Marlow’s paths crossed each other. With him being my mentor and guide, not only did I learn how to provide a transformational selling experience for clients, but also a handful about custom design jewellery.

After seeing Marlow’s success in a more client-oriented facet of the jewellery industry, I jumped at the opportunity when he asked me to join his team. Working at Marlow Design has not only allowed me to spread my creative wings but take customer service to the next level. Being involved with each and every clients’ stories has truly been a blessing and continues to keep me enthusiastic about helping our clients wear their special moments.
